South Korea's Hanwha Group and Poland's WB Group signed an agreement at the MSPO 2025 defence exhibition in Kielce, Poland, held from 2 to 5 September, to initiate local production of CGR-080 guided rockets for the Polish Armed Forces' Homar-K multiple rocket launcher (MRL).

The so-called ‘Poland-Korea joint venture' (JV), set up in April 2025, includes transfer of technology and manufacturing skills to Poland. The agreement that it will produce ammunition locally represents the first time the CGR-080 munition has been manufactured outside South Korea, according to a 3 September Hanwha release.

The release also suggested the JV could comprise a “launchpad” for the local manufacture of “new munitions and European exports”.

“The JV will implement a phased technology transfer program, supported by a certified quality management system and structured workforce training. Initial serial production is expected to ramp up progressively and reach an advanced stage before the end of 2028,” Hanwha said, before confirming a new factory will be stood up in Poland.

“The factory is planned to hire approximately 250 skilled positions in Poland, and to develop a road map for new rocket types tailored to the future needs of Poland and allied nations,” the company added.

According to official materiel displayed by the Polish Armed Forces at MSPO, the Homar-K battalion fire model is designed to “shape the battlespace in support of the concept of operations [CONOPS]; fighting deep operations through to close support operations”.
