Netherlands orders equipment to replenish Patriot air-defence system donated to Ukraine

The Netherlands has ordered equipment to replenish a Patriot air and missile defence system donated to Ukraine, the country's Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Raytheon announced on 16 January. Under the USD529 million contract, the Netherlands will receive a Patriot fire unit consisting of a radar, launchers, command-and-control stations, and other support equipment, with deliveries planned in 2029.
The Dutch MoD said the largest part of the order would replace parts donated to Ukraine in 2024, while the remainder will be used to increase the Netherlands' Patriot capacity.
Ordering the Patriot system directly from Raytheon will allow it to be fielded more quickly, according to the Dutch MoD.
In April 2024 Germany and the United States supplied a Patriot battery each to Ukraine under a joint project that also included the Netherlands, which provided two Patriot launchers with missiles.
