Sentrycs adds Cyber over RF capability to Rafael's Drone Dome system

Israeli company Sentrycs has integrated its soft-kill system, called Cyber over RF (radio frequency), into Rafael Advanced Defense Systems' Drone Dome counter-unmanned aircraft system (C-UAS).

The protocol manipulation-based C-UAS technology – commonly known as Cyber over RF – identifies an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), assumes control, and guides it to a landing zone, targeting commercial tier 1 and 2 UAVs as well as custom-built platforms.

Rafael's platform, according to its website, is a C-UAS, which integrates a radar, signals intelligence (SIGINT) detection and identification by passive RF sensors, electro-optical sensors, jamming systems, and a centralised command-and-control (C2) centre. The C2 centre detects, tracks, and intercepts air threats.

The integration of Sentrycs' Cyber over RF capability adds an additional layer of intelligence to the Drone Dome system. According to Sentrycs, this enables the system to distinguish between authorised and unauthorised UAVs, assume control over them, land them, and identify the location of the operator as well. The Cyber over RF is managed through the Drone Dome C2 system interface.

Sentrycs' C-UAS is classified as a soft-kill effector and provides both software and hardware components to the Drone Dome, the company's representative confirmed. The effector interacts directly with the UAV's communication protocol, “targets vulnerabilities, and finally leverages the UAV's reliance on RF communications protocols”, according to the company. Then the system either disconnects the UAV from the controller or guides it to a safe landing. The Cyber over RF technology targets commercial tier 1 and 2 UAVs as well as custom-built platforms, a Sentrycs representative told Janes on 7 July.
